Sunday Caddy Guide

The 7th Annual Shoot the Moon Classic is hosted by Vernon Trails at Veteran Hills Disc Golf Course. The course is built and maintained by volunteers and funded solely with donations. The Viroqua VFW Post 3032 has generously allowed us to build this disc golf course and multi-use trails on their property.

This is a PDGA B-Tier event.  Last stop on the Wisconsin Tour.

Schedule for Sunday, September 22nd, 2024

7:45 – 8:30: Check in for players and volunteers at the VFW pavilion.
8:50: Tee off for Round 1.
12:00: Approximate time for lunch. Last chance to purchase basket raffle tickets.
1:30: Approximate time for Round 2. About an hour after the last card is in from Round 1.
4:30: Approximate start time for awards.

Important Notes
  • There will be no day-of registration.
  • Park in the large lot away from the building. Leave spots close to the VFW for their customers.
  • There is no camping under the pavilion. There is no parking in or near the pavilion. If you are camping, please park in the parking lot. Please don’t move the picnic tables.
  • There is no players meeting.
  • PDGA Live Scoring access codes will be posted at check-in. Player cards and start holes are subject to change until 8:40 am. Please double-check before heading out for the round.
  • A small number of $10 VFW lunch tickets may be available in the morning if you did not pre-pay during registration.
  • The end of lunch time is the last opportunity to purchase basket raffle tickets.
  • On Hole 18, left of the property-line fence is OB.
  • There will be no 2-meter rule in effect.
  • If at the end of Round 2 there is a tie for 1st place in a division, a playoff will start on Hole 1, and proceed to Holes 2, 3, 4, 17, and 18 until a winner is determined.
  • In the event of hazardous conditions like thunderstorms with lightning, an alert will be sent through the PDGA Scorecard with further instructions.
  • We STRONGLY recommend a player or caddy walks ahead to act as a spotter on the bigger, blind holes. Holes 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 13, 14, and 16 are good candidates for this. Per PDGA rules, players have 3 minutes to locate a disc before it should be declared lost.
  • Northern Lights Disc Golf will be our vendor providing the AM prizes. Credit must be used on site.
  • This property shares space with walking trails. Be aware of other trail users on all fairways.
Scorekeeping

PDGA Live Scoring will be used. This is available on the PDGA website or through the app. Paper scorecards available upon request.

The access code will be available when you check in to the tournament.

All players are required to keep score for the whole group. All players are responsible for reconciling and submitting their copy of the scorecard within 30 minutes of when their group finished their round.

Veteran Hills & Vernon Trails

Veteran Hills is a collaboration between Vernon Trails, a non-profit recreational organization, and Viroqua’s local VFW Post 3032. The project began in the fall of 2013 when the VFW graciously allowed us to build this beautiful, publicly-accessible course designed by Brandon Day on 40+ acres of their land. We continue to update it and add features. Course improvements and maintenance are fully volunteer and funded entirely by donations.

This property is free to play, but not free to maintain. You can help keep this course going by tossing a few bucks HERE. And we are currently fundraising for a new mower. If you enjoy having fairways mowed, you might consider chipping in HERE.
